High speed automatic cell scanner - with inverted microscope optics

RACER, Sensovation’s new high resolution Scanner is a fluorescence scanner designed for analysis and enumeration of cells. It uses an inverted microscope optics with up to 5 different excitation / emission wavelength pairs and with up to 3 magnifications.

RACER is a multiformat reader, analyzing either microplates or slides as sample carrier. It is very fast: It only needs 300 seconds to scan and analyze the full area of a microplate (125mm x 85 mm). It scans large areas, but at the same time it is able to detect small objects. With a 270nm resolution it is even possible to detect and analyze bacteria. The instrument comes with a powerful cell analysis and enumeration software package. Besides fluorescence the instrument also can be operated in brightfield mode.

Typical applications for RACER include:

  • Automatic cell analysis or enumeration
    -   CTCs / rare cells or embryonic stem cells
  • Imaging of bacteria
  • Nanobarcode detection and identification
  • Bead based assays.

This screenshot from RACER's instrument control and image analysis software shows the image gallery which is displayed after a successful scan. The image gallery displays the images of the single cells, acquired with each color channel and the resulting image composed from these single images. Also displayed are the original images from the pre-scan. During the pre-scan -prior to the high-resolution scan - the events and their location on the slide had been identified and selected. On the left side the single events are classified as positive or negative. On the top of the window the actual position of the cell is displayed.
